Waste collected on Bornholm at private homes and summer cottages is sifted into six categories. Types of waste not fitting any of these must be disposed of at one of the island’s waste recycling stations (”Genbrugsplads”).

Take care! Protruding, pointed and sharp-edged items need to be packed up conscientiously, in order to avoid injury.

Into the green plastic waste container with wheels.
What will happen to the waste paper:

The following categories of waste are collected directly at homes and summer cottages on Bornholm:

Cardboard and paper is collected from the green plastic containers with wheels.

Clothing and textiles can also be put into the green plastic container, together with cardboard and paper.

BOFA would kindly ask you to give well kept or even completely new clothing or textile items to a thrift shop or a garage sale. Thrift shops are usually run by charities (Blå Kors, Sudan genbrug, Indre Mission). After closing hours you may even drop your contribution in front of the door of such a shop, provided you put it in a bag.

Batteries can be put inside a see-through bag of up to 4 litres volume and put on top of the lid of the household waste bag stand.

Small electronics can also be put inside a see-through bag of up to 4 litres volume and put on top of the lid of the household waste bag stand.

The remaining household waste is put inside the black bag with the ”BOFA” logo on it (please do not use other black plastic bags), which  is (or needs to be) fitted inside its stand. Should the black bag fill up, you are free to use the red variant of this ”BOFA” bag, which in summer cottages you usually will find inside the kitchen sink cupboard. Just tie it up after filling and put it next to the stand.

Waste not fitting any of these six categories please dispose of at bulk waste collections (”storskraldsindsamling) or on one of the island’s waste recycling stations (”genbrugsplads”, click on this link for opening hours).
