How good we are at sorting

There is great progress in waste sorting among households on Bornholm and in holiday home areas. 

Before the new waste schemes were introduced on 1 October 2024, residual waste accounted for around 90 % of the waste collected from households and environments.

By 2025, this share is reduced to approximately 40 %.

The collected volumes are calculated from January through September for comparability between years.

Including the volumes collected during the transition period (October-December 2024), the breakdown after the first year of the new schemes looks like this:

The amount of glass and metal now collected from households and environments probably also includes some that was previously collected via the glass cubes.

Yet the amount of residual waste has been halved - even without counting glass and metal from household collections:
