Symsites

BOFA participates in SYMSITES, a 12.4 million euro EU project, where BOFA receives approximately 335,000 euros (DKK 2,500,000 million) for our part.

The SYMSITES project is about creating local symbioses that will be tested in Svaneke and later replicated in other cities in the EU. The first symbiosis will be with the wastewater from Svaneke Bryghus. The wastewater will be treated and then used to irrigate Frennegaard's fields. The organic material purified from the wastewater and the food waste collected from the citizens of Svaneke will be made into biogas locally at the treatment plant. The biogas will be used at Svaneke Bryghus to brew beer with green energy.

There are four ECOSITES in total, of which Svaneke is one. Different technologies are tested at different ECOSITES. The others are located in Spain, Greece and Austria.

BOFA's role in the project is to develop a non-profit social spinoff (platform) with other European partners.
