Food waste

Food waste

Notes:

Food waste can not be delivered to the recycling centres. Private households are referred to their own containers/environments. Companies/businesses that need to deliver food waste can contact BOFA.

What happens to food waste:

The food waste is sent to the Gemidan company in Ølstykke, where it is converted into biogas. When the biowaste arrives at the company on Zealand, the plastic bags in which the waste has been delivered are separated. The biowaste is then collected into a large mass that is converted into biogas and fertiliser for agriculture.
