What happens with Batteries

The fraction is covered by producer responsibility legislation. BOFA is therefore only responsible for the collection and short-term storage of the fraction.

The manufacturer, or company (ERP, European Recycling Denmark) hired by the producer is responsible for the fraction being recycled, reused, recovered or disposed of after collection/storage.

  • Regular alkaline batteries (AA, AAA, B, C, 9V)
  • Button cell batteries (alkaline only)
  • Oestrus batteries

  • Lead accumulators (car batteries)
  • Lithium button cell batteries
  • All other accumulators and batteries, including toy, hand tool, bicycle, scooter and electric car batteries, which often contain lithium.

Please note

Lithium batteries must never be mixed with general waste, residual waste, residual after sorting or otherwise mis-sorted. Batteries, Residual Waste, Residue after sorting or otherwise mis-sorted, as there is a high risk of them exploding and igniting a fire during waste management.
