Demolition & Renovation

When you plan to renovate or demolish and expect to generate more than 1 tonne of waste, there are a number of rules and guidelines to follow. This page provides an overview of them.

Demolition & Renovation info

If you're renovating or demolishing and you know that the project will generate more than 1 tonne of waste, you need to:

Remember to register your project in Building and Environment (BOM) no later than 14 days before you plan to start. You can find the link to BOM at the bottom of the page.

After reporting, you will receive a receipt containing the year and a 6-digit serial number. This is only the confirmation that the case has been created.

When the case is finalised, you will receive a new number consisting of the year and a 4-digit serial number. This 4-digit number must be brought with you when delivering the waste.

Read more about the process on the regional municipality's waste management page. Click here here.

Before you report
Before submitting your project, it's important to survey the area to be demolished or renovated to identify any problematic waste materials.

You can get help with your screening by selecting one of the two houses below:

The first house is the "asbestos house" and the second is the "renovate-safe house". Both sites provide guidance on the problematic waste materials that can hide in old buildings.

At the bottom of the page you will find the limit values we work with.

When you get started
Remember to bring the 4-digit number when delivering the waste. The number must be brought when dropping off waste at BOFA's recycling centres or at the scale functions in Rønne and Vestermarie.

Before you visit the recycling centre, you can make a list of the types of waste you bring with you. This makes it easier to keep an overview and ensures efficient sorting.

At the site, you can work with the site staff to calculate the amount of each type of waste and note it on the list. Subsequent signing by the site staff ensures that your documentation is in order.

If the waste is delivered above the weight, a weighing slip is handed out as documentation.

Once the project is complete, calculate the total amount of waste that has been generated. This inventory must be reported to the regulatory authority.

Important!
If the screening shows that the waste is suitable for landfill (e.g. insulation, painted chunks, asbestos or non-asbestos asbestos, etc.), you should be aware of the following:

A BOM notification does not replace a landfill declaration. This means that the landfill declaration must also be submitted and approved. Once it has been processed, you will receive an acceptance form that must be brought with you when delivering the waste.

You can find the waste declarations and instructions on how to fill out and submit them as private person and Business by following the links.
