Bulky waste
Waste for bulky waste must be placed next to the road max. 1 metre inside the driveway no later than 07:00 on the collection day.
Note: Hazardous waste is collected in the red environmental box, which is ordered via My Waste or the Waste Portal.

Bulky waste info
BOFA collects bulky waste from private year-round households 3 times a year, starting in March, June and October.
Registration must be done:
- No later than 14 February if you want collection in March.
- By 14 May at the latest if you want collection in June.
- By 14 September at the latest if you want collection in October.
- After the 14th, a route will be planned and you will receive a text message or email with the pick-up date at your address.
Signing up after the 14th means that you are automatically signed up for the following pickup.
Bulky waste will only be collected if you have received a confirmation from BOFA with the collection date.
Please read the rules for drop-off and sorting before ordering:
- Bulky waste must be placed no later than 07:00 on the collection day.
- The waste must be placed next to the road, no more than 1 metre inside the driveway.
- For long private roads, it must be possible for the lorry to turn around at the house. If this is not possible, the waste must be placed on the nearest tarmac road.
- In all cases, it is up to the driver to decide if driving on the private road is allowed.
- If the waste is placed anywhere other than right in front of the front door, this must be stated in the message field when ordering.
- The waste must be placed visibly and easily accessible to the driver.
- Waste must be sorted and packaged according to the sorting rules below (use clear bags as a starting point).
To ensure proper handling of waste, please note that waste that is not sorted and packaged in accordance with applicable sorting rules will not be accepted.
It should also be noted that collection is carried out by several different vehicles. Therefore, it may happen that the waste is collected several times on the collection day itself.
Sorting requirements for bulky waste:
Car tyres
Passenger car tyres with and without rims. Max. 4 tyres per household.
Residue after sorting (combustible waste))
Each item in this category can weigh a maximum of 20kg and the maximum length is 2 metres.
Upholstered furniture (which cannot be reused without repair) and mattresses are included in whole units.
Smaller materials and similar should be packed in clear plastic bags with knots.
Shoes and bags that cannot be reused should also be placed in a clear plastic bag with a knot.
The waste must be separated into:
- Residue after sorting - small: up to 1 m
- Residue after sorting - large: 1 to 2 m
Landfill
Non-recyclable and non-combustible effects.
Direct recycling
Direct recycling must be marked with a note/label with the words "Direct recycling".
Items in good condition that can be reused without repair. For example, furniture, mirrors, etc.
Clothes and shoes that can be reused are not included. They must be donated to a charitable organisation or similar.
Each item in this category can weigh a maximum of 20 kg and the maximum length is 2 metres.
Electrical scrap
Refrigerators, freezers, washing machines, dishwashers, stoves, ovens, dryers, PCs, televisions, radios, speakers and similar are included as whole units.
Any object that is powered, either through a cord or with batteries.
Hazardous waste
Spray cans, chemicals, nail polish etc. must be returned in the red environmental bin. The lid must be closed and The address label must be filled in.
Flamingo
Delivered in a clear plastic bag with a knot.
Garden waste
Each item/strapped bundle within this category can weigh a maximum of 20 kg and the maximum length is 2 metres.
Other garden waste is placed in paper bags. Plastic bags must not be used, especially degradable plastic.
Perishable garden waste such as fruit and vegetables are not included.
A maximum of 10 items/bundles/paper bags can be delivered in total.
Wood for recycling
Pallets, small boards from transport packaging (e.g. white goods) and pure wood furniture.
Each item in this category can weigh a maximum of 20 kg and the maximum length is 2 metres.
Metal
Bicycle, pram frame, wheelbarrow
Metal combined with other materials must be separated, such as metal legs on chairs or worktops.
Each item in this category can weigh a maximum of 20 kg and the maximum length is 2 metres.
Sanitation
Toilets/toilets and washbasins in complete condition.
Glazed materials such as porcelain, plates, cups, vases, flower pots, etc.
Large cardboard
Must be bundled.
Each bundle can weigh a maximum of 10 kg and the maximum length is 1 metre.
Large plastic
Packaging plastic in a clear sack with a knot.
Plastic furniture etc. may measure a maximum of 70 cm - otherwise they must be broken down/made smaller before being set out for collection.
Textile waste
In a clear bag with a knot.
Textiles that are damaged/worn and cannot be reused.
Reusable textiles should be handed over to charitable organisations or similar. The same goes for reusable shoes, belts and bags.
Not included:
- Building materials such as bricks, chimneys, plaster, mortar, tiles, insulation, concrete, eternit roofing sheets, bricks, window glass etc. are not included. Building materials made of pure wood, such as planks, boards, posts and other wooden building materials are also not included. Building materials must be delivered to the recycling centres.
- Residual waste/daytime rubbish is referred to household collection or Environment.
- Packaging glass and bottles. Referred to your own container or at the recycling centres.
- Hazardous waste that cannot be placed in the red environmental bin, such as chemical residues, paint, oil, etc. must be delivered to the recycling centres.
- Oil tanks, oil burners and cars for scrapping are referred to product trade.
- Paper is referred to household collection or to the recycling centres.
- Hard and soft PVC must be handed in at recycling centres.
