Notes:

Hazardous waste is not accepted at Hasle and Østermarie recycling centres.

For private citizens:

Small amounts of hazardous waste in original containers can be delivered via the red recycling bin (see rules here). Larger quantities (< 5 litres/5kg) can be dropped off at the recycling centres (Hasle and Østermarie excepted) during staffed opening hours on the table by the hazardous waste container.

For business:

Business customers registered for the recycling centre scheme can drop off hazardous waste at the recycling centre. Other commercial customers must deliver hazardous waste to an authorised collector.

What happens with hazardous waste

Hazardous waste collection at BOFA of STENA Recycling (located on Funen), sorting the waste. Some is separated and recycled, such as spray cans, while others are destroyed by incineration, such as pesticides.

  • Paints, Chemicals and Pesticides
  • Packaging containers where you suspect the contents are harmful to the environment
  • Legal fireworks
  • Mercury thermometer
  • Larger Lithium batteries (> 100Wh)

  • Emergency rockets/ammunition/illegal fireworks - contact the police
  • Smaller Lithium batteries (<100Wh)

Please note

Please dispose of poisons and chemicals in their original packaging. Do not mix the products, as this can be dangerous for both you and the waste collectors.
